Betty Jean Overby (Harron), Class of '57

My most memorable moment at Baker was when we won the basketball championships. Art was my favorite class with Miss Mary Repass as my teacher.

I was a horse person so I did not participate in any after school activities; I headed for the Shamrock Riding Stables after school to see my horse, Queen.

I rode in rodeos and horse shows the whole time I was in high school and my nickname was "Horse."

I married a First Lieutenant in December of 1958 and he spent 30 years in the service, retiring as a full colonel. He is a life member of the Million Dollar Club of real estate. In 1992 he joined me in the mortgage banking business. He is aloan officer with First Bankers Mortgage here in Columbus, and I am a loan officer in the TIC Mortgage Lending Department at Fort Benning.

We have five married daughters and nine grandchildren, with one more on the way. I do calligraphy and genealogy research and speak to local organizations about area history. History was another of my favorite subjects at school.

March, 1997
