William G. "Bill" Hayes, IV, Class of '61

I served in the United States Navy for two years. While in the service I received a presidential appointment to the US Naval Academy. I served on the USS Independence, an aircraft carrier, during the Cuban missile crises. After I completed my tour of duty,I attended the University of Georgia where I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees and completed course requirements for a doctorate in public administration. I have worked in human resources and public management in local government and higher education for 20+ years in Birmingham Alabama, Greenville, SC, the university of Houston, Houston Tx, the University of Georgia and currently am on the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia where I have been for t he past 14 years. I am married and have two sons-Max and Grant. My wife's name is Ree. I enjoy golf which I try to play twice a week, travelling, hiking, music and all sports.
