COLUMBUS, GA — Robert Lamar Reese, 59, of Columbus, Ga., died Friday, March 7, 2003 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 4:00 p.m., EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, 4048, Macon Road, Columbus, Ga., with Rev., Russell Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held this evening from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jerry Pitts, Ace Blair, Jay Cooper, Charles Elrod, Larry Austin and Gus Vogas.

Mr. Reese was born July 25, 1943 in Columbus, Ga., son of Jane Jifkins of Columbus and the late Palmer Lamar Reese. He was the owner and operator of Reese's Barber Shop and Service Center in Columbus. He was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, a member of BPOE Lodge #111 and a lifetime member of VFW. He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1963. He also drove a school bus for Muscogee County School District for a number of years. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tara Michelle Reese.

Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty J. Reese of Columbus, Ga; two daughters, Theresa S. Nichols of Phenix City, Ala., and Vanessa L. Thrift of Lake Harding, Ala; one son, William T. Reese of Columbus, Ga; two sisters, Mary Callaway and Sandra Gray, both of Columbus; six grandchildren, Brandi Moody, Dean Curlee, Jessica Curlee, Tiffany Thrift, Frank Thrift and Robert Jon Thrift; and one great- grandchild, Haley Moody
