John Henry Simmons November 21, 1947- February 7, 2005

John Henry Simmons, Jr., 57, of Columbus, lost his valiant battle with cancer on Feb. 7, 2005. Mr. Simmons was born November 21, 1947 in Ft. Benning, Ga. to Margaret Scofield Simmons and the late John Henry Simmons, Sr. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Since 1993 he was the Chief Financial Officer of several corporations including Extreme Power Sports, Gold Car Lending, and Gil's Auto Sales. Additionally, he was the CFO for Bill Heard Enterprises and was an accountant for the Hardaway Company. He was a 1965 Graduate of Baker High School and was graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia Southwestern University in Americus with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he served on the congregational council as president, and also served on the financial committee. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, M. Faye Rodgers Simmons; his daughters, Ashley Simmons Parsi-Garciani, and Alayne Whitney Simmons; a devoted son in law, Joseph R. Parsi-Garciani; his mother, Margaret Scofield Simmons; a brother, Ronald Wayne Simmons; a sister, Sherri Ellen Wiggins and husband David Alan, all of Columbus; as well as other extended family members. He is also survived by beloved friend and business partner Gil Dyer of Phenix City; dear friends Brad and Linda Corbitt of Phenix City, Dr. Jim and Lynn Lopez of Columbus; David and Tracy Moye of Tallahassee, Fla.
