Charles Craig Davis, Class of '70

ABOUT BAKER: A Columbus native and fourth in my family to graduate from BHS..Spent most of my four years trying to play high school football, trying to (and not) impressing the coaches, trying to learn how to communicate with girls, not studying enough, going to sock hops, staying out of trouble (most of the time), dreaming of the perfect car, trying to be accepted by too many different groups,.. However more important, Mr. Mezicks drafting class, Coach Williams drafting class (ha!), mechanical shop, and my one art class which are all connections to my career. AFTER BAKER: After graduation I attended Columbus College, now Columbus State University, and Southern Technical Institute, now Southern Polytechnic State University, Marietta, Ga., obtaining a BET in Architecture. After receiving my degree I returned to Columbus and began working for an Architectural firm in Phenix City until the great recession of '74/'75. In 1975 I began working with the City of Columbus in the Building and Code Enforcement Division for three years before returning to the world of architecture. I worked my internship at various Architectural firms in Phenix City, Opelika, and Columbus before passing the architectural licensing exam for the state of Georgia in 1985. Since registration I've continue my professional career in Columbus and in 1994 I joined with the Architectural Firm of Hecht, Burdeshaw, Johnson et al, Inc. contributing to many changes in the landscape of Columbus. 2005 life changes and company reorganizes and now I work for the DoD, civilian, Ft. Benning, Architect with the DPW. I've been married to Jeanie Brooks (Spencer High School, 1974) for 28+ years and she works for Synovus Mortgage. We have one son Clayton born in 1980, married in 2007, no grandchildren. My free time is spent playing golf, home improvements, Sport car racing (spectator), traveling and service to my church.
