Annually, around July 1st, the Baker High School Alumni Association awards a $1,000 college scholarship to the child or grandchild of a current dues paying Alumni Association member. (Alumnus returning to college are also eligible.)  For the basic application requirements used for the selection process in 2006, click on http://baker.hs.org/LEO/BHSScholarshipInfo.htm.  VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants must be a current dues paying member of the Alumni Association or be the child or grandchild of a current member. The applications that belong to Non-Members will not be considered eligible.

I have been melancholy due to the heartbreaking news that Baker was put on the Muscogee County School District's surplus list unanimously in March 2001... especially after getting my hopes up - thinking that Baker was going to once again be revived as a liberal arts magnet school.  Instead of allowing Baker's future to diminish, now is the time to regroup, brain storm and prepare a strategy to locate a Buyer that will revitalize Baker High into a community facility that serves the surrounding South Columbus neighborhoods!!! These reports are the results of the $38,000 inspection paid by grants and donations raised by Columbus South, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to revitalize the South Columbus neighborhoods.
