        It doesn't matter.  The point in the article is that it would be great if our politicians (dem or gop) would grow some balls and toss aside some of their "political correctness" to tell it like it is or like it should be.  I for one think our country is headed down a slippery slope to some real bad times if we don't get things right about whose country this is.  America is a great country and it does not need immigrants from anywhere else in the world trying to change the fundamentals that made it great.  If it weren't great why else would so many people want to leave their countries and come here.  If they want us to change to their way of thinking/believing why didn't they just stay where they came from.  People coming to this country should want to be Americans not Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, or Muslem Americans but Americans.  We should welcome anyone who comes to our country and wants to be an American.

        Regarding Australia: 
        This was news in August 2005 after the London subway bombings.  

        Was any action actually taken by the government or are these sound bites from folks hoping to be re-elected?  Did any folks leave Australia voluntarily or involuntarily? 

        I apologize if my questions seem cynical, but trust, truth, and beauty have taken a beating over the years.

              Muslims who want to live under Islamic Shari law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. 

              A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.  Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its la! ws were made by parliament  "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Shari law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television. 

              "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false.  If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Shari law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said 

              Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be ask! ed to move to the other country.  Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off.  Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, ! well then, they can basically clear off", he said. 

              Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

              Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, Canadians/Americans will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths !
