<BLOCKQUOTE style="PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: #a0c6e5 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> Georgeanna and I have had a wonderful - relaxing - weekend. We have basically done little to nothing but sleep, eat and I have done quite a bit of reading (course material and all). We start our teaching orientation meetings tomorrow AM ( 7PM your time). We are almost over jet lag and my sleeping times are getting almost normalized. We live in a small home that has tile floor throughout. It is so much nicer than our stay in Afghanistan (as far as creature comforts). We have running water and hot water and a frig. We had a car go to Medan (5 -6 hours away and our touch with fairly modern society). They took a list of stuff and we now have two fans. We have NO stores within 45 minutes of us. We are
literally out in the boondocks. Right off campus is a very small grocery where we can buy eggs, bread, crackers, water - you know the kind of shop in Mexico that is on the side of the road. There is a small market about 15 minutes from us for veggies. So tonight we had fried egg sandwich with mayo, tomato, (no lettuce) so we substitute fine slices of cucumber and raw onions. It was so good!!!! I have been having fish and rice and Veggies and fish and rice and soup and . We have not had any red meat (of any kind) for a long time. We mainly have fish - which is very good - usually fried. The closest Momma-San - Poppa-San restaurant is a 15 minute ride but we have no vehicle and the local bus is a small Toyota van which is always PACKED. I am not complaining . . I am just trying to tell you how much we miss MX food and how very
<DIV></DIV>spoiled we are . . .. We are very well and our eats are more than adequate. I was just trying to tell you what we ate.

<DIV>The students here at DEL are so respectful. It reminds me of when I was a kid and people taught respect for their elders. And kids called their Granddad's and Grandmothers by those names and said Yes sir and No Sir and got out of your way (as an elder). Elders were not called by their first names by children in an attempt to not damage their - whatever - I have not found one student out of 164 that in any showed anything but respect. HOW REFRESHING! They also study. Here is no TV here, and no Cinema. They have a small library and listen and play alot of music so there is a great deal of social interaction between the students instead of people with their ears in an IPOD or their noses in some hand held game. Another AMAZING thing is there </DIV>is only one 'playing court' on the entire
campus. It has basketball hoops on either end and it is about regulation sized. Every evening after classes, their study hour complete, a large number of them end up on the court. SIMULTANEOUSLY there is a basketball game and a soccer game - on the same court - at the same time. I just sit on the side lines mesmerized. In a week, I have not seen a fight or quarrel . . I've seen the soccer ball hit a basketball player in the face and they just went on as if nothing happened. I had noticed that the basketball hoops had no nets on them. Then Friday of last week, one of the students had gotten some black nylon string, he was on a ladder and weaving a net for each end. Looked pretty good to me. Oh, while he worked on it - they continued to play. When a shot was made at the basket, he will hide behind the backboard while still on the
<DIV></DIV>ladder. As they rebounded the ball or shot the basket - he would restart his weaving.

<DIV>It rains alot here. As you know I love rain. I especially like to fly in rain but it is not good for the aircraft paint - so I try and miss the greater downfall. But there is something about rain and cool weather that just energizes me. </DIV>

<DIV>Well, I have rambled enough. Many thanks for everyone for their prayers. Georgeanna's health continues to improve. The leg that was operated on flared up and got fairly swollen two days ago. I massaged it and put Ben-gay on it. It is very slightly swollen today and is much better. She says she is very fine and does not want this part to be in the message. But I would like for you to pray for her. On a spiritual note: unknown to us, there is not one English speaking church </DIV>around here. We are praying about the possibility of starting one in our home. To do so we will need the permission of the schools director. Please pray that God will move and show us exactly what he wants us to do.
