Without you, we never would have what exists today @Baker. I am just glad to hear that you are not suffering from any setbacks with your health! You never should ever feel embarrassed - for over 10 years of out of pocket expenses and hours upon hours of voluntary dedication!!!

At the LEO meeting, the website issue was on the agenda and a unanimous motion was made to help you in any way that is necessary to revive the Baker website. If it means we need to provide revenue for you to contract with a cooperating and reliable hosting company then let us know what the expense will be. If you need data entry assistance, I will do what I can and I'm sure we will be able to recruit other computer savvy Lions to assist at your direction. So please let the Alumni Association know what you need to get @Baker up and running again.

I have heard from several reunion organizers that need to be able to post updates and the "Save Baker from Destruction" campaign needs a way to communicate the status of the Muscogee County School Board decisions.

I am involved in the following local groups: The Columbus South, Inc., a non-profit revitalization task board; South Columbus Concerned Citizens and the BHS Alumni Association. They are all working together to develop a strategy to reopen Baker as a liberal arts magnet school. It would make it alot easier if I could send them to a website to get updates rather than the crude mass emailing. The old copy, paste and email is very time consuming... at least I use the hard bounces as a way to delete the invalid email addresses. What suggestions do you have about getting the word out about Baker's future to the masses from an email database?

I have heard from several alumni and the consensus is that everyone has dearly missed the camaraderie that @Baker has provided the access to all these years. I am eagerly looking forward to helping you in reviving Baker's website again. So please take care of yourself and keep up the rhythm!

(The data's all there, but the programming hasn't worked since August when we moved to the new hosting company.)

Instead of going to the meeting, I used twelve hours of Saturday to work on the programming for the Web site. I had hoped to make a lot of progress, but I didn't. There are two problems: the new Web hosting company has a much newer version of our programming language that enforces some important security requirements, and writing files (such as publishing your web page) works
differently. Since I didn't make as much progress as I wanted on Saturday, I spent all day Sunday on it, too. (Uh, and half the night!)

I started with the "Work with Your @Baker Account" because a lot of people want to make updates. There are twelve functions within that section. I have now converted the first six of them. I've *got* to get at least a few hours' rest or I'll wake up dead tomorrow!

However, I am back on the job of @Baker, and things should go faster now that I've got a rhythm going.

Thanks, everyone, for being patient.

--Bob '65
